Description

This rare Ernest Leitz Wetzlar Microscope from 1911 is an esteemed collectible, complete with its original case. This microscope was manufactured by Ernest Leitz in Germany with the serial number 147930 inscribed on the body tube. Also shown is the broad arrow or pheon, used by the British military, indicating it must have originally been in their use. A slightly worn table of magnifications is tucked in the back of the front door of its case. There are three Leitz brass objectives on the microscope marked as 3, 6L, and 1/12 Oel immersion objective. Three brass cases hold them.
Before Ernst Leitz Wetzlar became Leica, they produced high-quality microscopes under their original brand name, during the last few decades of the 19th century and into the early 20th century.
The size of the microscope is 7 x 8 x 13.5 inches and the dimensions with the box are 8.25 x 8.5 x 14.75 inches.
