Description

The Pola festival is a harvest festival similar to Dusshera, mainly celebrated by farmers in the Indian states of Maharasthra and Chattisgarh. On the day of Pola, farmers decorate their bulls and thank them for their help in the farms. Pola figures or dolls are also dressed up as deities and taken around the streets on the day of the festival, sometimes mounted on wheels.
Made of wood with intricately painted details, this old wooden Pola figure of a cow is a unique find for the discerning collector. The figure is mounted on a base. The wheels are missing and the base has a crack between the back legs. Some of the paper decoration is coming apart from the base due to passage of time.
