Description

This stunning Deccan rosewood jewellery box has been intricately and extensively decorated with fine brass floral and scroll-work designs on the lid. The edges have also been reinforced with brass banding, both for decoration and protection. On the sides are brass countersunk carrying handles with fine foliate inlay designs around them, and this inlay is also featured on the front. Inside, the box is fitted with a removable tray in the centre, and there is a further compartment beneath this tray. There are also five other compartments to store jewellery separately. The key has been lost at some time in its life.
