Jatin Das
With his paintings, murals and sculptures, artist Jatin Das has been a part of the Indian art world for more than forty years. Born in 1941, Das is an alumnus of the Sir J. J. School of Fine Arts, Mumbai. He has worked as a teacher at the College of Art, New Delhi, and the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and has also worked as a consultant for the Handicrafts Board and the Folk Art Museum, Orissa.
Painting for him is an intensely personal experience, which he believes cannot always be shared with others. Das’s fascination with the human body can be clearly seen in his works, as he uses quick brushwork and linear structures to create dynamic figures. In 1991, the Lalit Kala Akademi held a retrospective of his works. He lives and works in New Delhi.
