Artist Profile
Artist Sabia Khan’s work has been on view in several prestigious institutions and exhibitions, in India and abroad, including countries like Oman, UAE, Korea and Pakistan. She has had solo exhibitions at Sarjan Art Gallery, Baroda, Shridharani Art Gallery and Art Today, New Delhi. Her list of solo exhibitions includes ‘Andaze Bayan Aur’, a series of works on Mirza Ghalib at the Visual Arts Gallery, New Delhi. Sabia’s works are part of many significant collections in India and abroad including those of the Lalit Kala Akademi, the President of Singapore, the UNDP South Asia office, New Delhi, the India Today Group, Alkazi collection and many others.
Sabia is a recipient of the National Academy Award (2001) and the Yuva Mahotsava Award (1996). She has also been the recipient of the National Cultural Scholarship (1993-95), and the Junior Fellowship (1995-97) and Senior Fellowship by the Kanoria Centre for Art (1999). Her work has been used on the cover of several publications including the Science Book Cover (1993-98), Sahitya Varshiki, a Hindi literary publication by India Today (1999) and the India Today Hindi Magazine (1995).
She received a Bachelor’s (1991) and a Master’s degree (1993) in Painting from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She currently lives and works in New Delhi.
